Heidi Swartzmiller
MA, LMFT
Hi there, I’m Heidi.
I’m passionate about seeing people through a biopsychosocial-spiritual lens. I view my clients within the greater context of their lives, and strive to tease out the systems that may be hindering their path to wellness. I believe people were meant to live in relationship, and that it is in this sharing of your life with another that conflict and tension can arise. Emotional wounds can come in all forms, from the least likely of places, and do not need to be carried alone. I am here, if only to say, healing is for you.
I enjoy working with individuals and couples, and walking alongside them in their healing. I believe therapy is a collaborative experience between family and therapist, that each client has resiliency and resources they need already within, and that it is our job to uncover them.
I am currently licensed in the state of Oregon only. I have a Master’s Degree in Marriage, Couples, and Family Therapy from Lewis and Clark College, with a focus on international families and sex therapy. I studied the art of yoga and meditation, spirituality, and alternative healing practices whilst abroad in Bangalore, India. I have worked in medical settings alongside teams of social workers, doctors, and psychiatrists to ensure clients receive optimal care. It is from these experiences that I have come to believe taking a holistic approach with each client is critical. I am currently working in settings, both privately and otherwise, that provide opportunity to continue this wrap-around model of care, if and when needed.
A healer does not heal you. A healer is someone who holds space for you while you awaken your inner healer, so that you may heal yourself.
